People’s Park for Nature Charter

Sharing Land. Connecting People. Restoring the Wild.

Vision
Let’s create a People’s Park for Nature — an inclusive place where wildlife thrives and the entire community can enjoy and connect with nature. We envision a vibrant, interconnected landscape where people and wildlife coexist in harmony, fostering community pride, well-being, and sustainable living.

Commitment
By signing this charter, we unite in our collective responsibility and ambition to shape the People’s Park for Nature. Together, we envision green and blue spaces rich with biodiversity, clean water, and flourishing ecosystems. Our park will be a place where everyone can explore, play, work, learn, and feel a deeper connection to the natural world.

Our Pledge
We commit to the following actions to make our vision a reality:

  1. Collaborate on projects that enhance the natural environment and inspire action.

  2. Educate and empower through experiences that grow environmental awareness.

  3. Champion local businesses and organisations that reflect our values.

  4. Welcome everyone to be part of this movement, ensuring inclusion and diversity.

Guiding Principles for Land Designation

We welcome land of all shapes and sizes to the People’s Park for Nature. All land registered embraces the following core principles:

  1. Nature Restoration: Ongoing restoration aimed at increasing biodiversity.

  2. Nature Connection: On-site installations—whether art, interpretation, or activities — exist to inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world.

  3. Access for All: Public access, including provisions for people with disabilities, will be prioritised, opening new opportunities for engagement (subject to agreed times and terms, for example open days organised by the People’s Park for Nature).

  4. Opportunities for People: Community-driven land use ideas are welcomed (whether it’s food growing, well-being activities, or creative projects), when feasible and in harmony with the primary land use.

  5. Healthy Lands: Organic, toxin-free land management is practiced, safeguarding the health of people, wildlife, and the planet.
